Head of the Pack
Happy Spring!
As we finalize this issue and send pages to our printer, it is still pretty much like winter here in the Midwest. We won't start to see daffodils or crocuses for at least another month and instead of April rain showers, there's almost always a big snowstorm just when you think snowy days are overwith!
In this issue, I wanted to point out our Go Green Section that has found a home here in April's issue. I enjoy the Woven Plastic Bag Basket and the Recycled Paper Bowls two great ideas to show your kids or students how easy and fun it can be to reuse materials. I've been trying to use my canvas grocery tote bags as much as possible but it seems I always have a rather large collection of those plastic bags in my house! And who doesn't have paper that could be recycled? Create the paper pulp and then use pie tins or plates or any moldable item to create delicate and unique works of art. See, it's simple and fun being green!
Don't forget Earth Day is April 22nd and should be celebrated! Check out the "I'm a Tree Hugger" shirt on page 40, made using Earth Safe Finishes which is an eco-friendly product line. Eco-friendly is also kid-friendly! Encourage your kids and students to think first of the environment and how their decisions affect the world around them. We'd love to hear how you celebrated Earth Day or "went green" this year. Please send us your stories and photos we love hearing from you!
Spend time with kids,

p.s. As these blustery days keep coming, I feel so bad for trees! It's cold out there! I was compelled to give one a hug and brave the weather myself!
